Flower Essence Remedies for Animals

Animals tend to be like children and respond extremely well to the remedies which are 100% natural and safe.

Prescribing Flower Essence remedies involves studying the temperament of the animal concerned together with its particular mood and nature generally.

For example, a dog may bark with great ferocity at passers-by and people in general, but the reasons for barking may vary greatly:

A dog may bark because it is afraid - MIMULUS or ROCK ROSE would be appropriate here.

The dog may be suspicious of a stranger or situation - HOLLY

Others may be displaying their dominance and guarding their property and/or owner - VINE

Some dogs bark or snarl purely out of malice - again HOLLY would be appropriate

A dog that has been the victim of another dog's aggression would probably benefit from CENTAURY and MIMULUS

Whilst I have used dogs for the above example, the same applies for other animals. It is a case of matching temperament and behaviour to the appropriate remedy.

All animals, like humans, are individuals and need to be considered as such although certain species or breeds might share similar tendencies. Cats for example are often WATER VIOLET types, independent and proud, but each one would have a temperament unique to itself which would require using one or more remedies.

The following are a few more general remedies:

WILLOW can be used when an animal is ill and looking sorry for itself

CLEMATIS and WILD ROSE for drowsiness and apathy

IMPATIENS for general irritability

HOLLY for aggression with VINE if aggressive and dominant

RESCUE REMEDY is always useful when treating animals because so often shock and terror are a major cause of their problems.

Like all natural complimenatary therapies, remedies need to be applied over a period of time. The remedies are safe to use with most prescribed medications and again I can not stress enough how important it is to seek veterinary advice if your animal is physically ill or injured. Many humans benefit greatly from complimentary health care whilst receiving treatment from their doctors and it is the same for animals.
